Join us as we feature the yarn dyers who will be representing the Best of the Northwest. Today we have Georgia Schlegel of Yarn Pirate!
Here’s what you need to know about Georgia:
Georgia Schlegel grew up slapping paint onto canvases with her father, a successful commercial artist. Moving into tactile arts, she picked up knitting in 2003 and began dyeing soon after, combining her loves of color and fiber. She founded Yarn Pirate in 2006 to sell hand dyed yarn and fiber. Her popular Booty Club has been going strong for five years, with a new, exclusive color way every month. Color ways are all fresh and modern, drawing inspiration from a wide variety of sources and pairing sometimes-unlikely colors in a harmonious manner. Georgia loves knitting small projects, especially clothing for her children Henry and Agatha. She’s been spinning since 2007 and loves to knit with handspun.
